About Me

Wendy A. Woloson

I am an independent scholar and consulting historian living in Philadelphia, PA. I hold a PhD in American studies, an MA in popular culture, and an MFA in printmaking with a minor concentration in art history.

My research interests focus on 19th-century and early 20th-century American consumer culture, material culture, and marginal economies, including pawnbroking, junk dealing, and the second-hand goods trade. As a consulting historian, I provide advice and guidance to companies undertaking major digital archives projects. I am also hired to conduct history-based research projects and for curatorial work.

In addition to traveling the country attending conferences and giving talks, I teach art classes and workshops at the Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia.
